 Lowes Hardware, Renton

General Contractor: Robinson Construction

This project, using over 7000 cubic yards of concrete, consists of grade beam, pile cap, and 10 inch structural slab on grade for a new Lowes Hardware complex.  Pyramid Concrete is one of the first companies in Washington State to pour a structural slab using a laser.

With the pouring of the structural slab of the garden center, the large scale flat work will be nearly completed.

The power trowel is making fast work of the slab finish.

Iron work is nearly completed in preparation for the garden center slab pour

The finishing touches are being put on the walls of the loading bay.

With the inside structural slab completed, the roof is now being installed.

After another large pour the slab has now cured for a few days and sealant can be clearly seen on the surface of the concrete.

The final polish has been nearly completed on the starting end of the days pour, and in the background the last truck load of concrete is being pumped over the wall.

Starting at 3 in the morning, the first 1100 plus cubic yards of the structural slab pour (consisting of over 2800 cubic yards of concrete in only three days!) went exactly as planned.

The huge 61SX was just one of two concrete pump trucks used for the massive slab pour.

Here is a view of the unique bridge system employed to carry the laser screed safely over the two layer reinforcing structure.

When one length of concrete has been poured and leveled, the bridge sections are taken up and moved into position for the next section to be poured.

The power trowels are starting to put the finish on the nearly completed pour.

Work is progressing well towards the first major structural slab pour.

Roughly half of the reinforcement is place already.

The structural slab consists of two layers of reinforcement bar which presents problems for the laser screed which will be leveling the slab as it is poured.  The solution is a bridge system that fits between the rebar grid to support the laser screed above the iron without any damage to the reinforcing system.

With nearly all of the footings completed, work is beginning to switch towards prepping for the slab pour.

The first section of footings has been poured and work is already underway on the next sections.
