The Island Commons project turned out to be a fantastic addition to the the local neighborhood, adding attractive retail shops with well situated living spaces.

With the completion of the second story post-tension slab on the upper building, major construction for Pyramid was drawing to a close on this project.

Pouring of the second floor post-tension slab on the upper building.

For such a large pour the 61SX 'BIG DOG' concrete pumping truck was brought in from Brundage-Bone Concrete Pumping.  At 61 meters in length, this is the largest pump boom implemented in Washington State.

To provide a steady flow of concrete for such a large pour, upwards of 600 cubic yards this day, a second pump vehicle was brought in to feed more concrete into the 61 SX pump truck.  This setup allows two separate locations for concrete trucks to unload, and makes for a faster transition of getting the empty trucks out and the newly arriving loaded trucks in.

It is quite impressive to see the tremendous reach the 61 SX pump truck provides to get to those far ends of the post-tension slab.

The pour started on schedule as usual, with everyone working in concert to ensure a smooth operation.

The days pour is over half way done, and everything continues to run well.

With the successful end of pouring on day one, the power trowels put the finishing touches on the surface of the post-tension slab.

Second day of the post-tension slab pour.

Since all the hard to reach work was done yesterday with the 61 SX 'BIG DOG' pump truck, a smaller one was brought in to finish the easier to reach section of the job.

The pour ran quite well all day even with an intermittent light rain.

Mid way through and everything is running on schedule.  Workers can be seen on the right side of the photo already preparing for a wall pour.

The end of a well executed day shows a completed second story post-tension slab.
