Aljoya Thornton Place, Seattle General Contractor: WG Clark Aljoya Thornton Place is a 243,948 square foot retirement facility with 129 independent living units and 14 assisted living units. The project includes four levels of wood-frame apartments over four concrete levels with a combination of apartments, common space, and parking for 182 vehicles. With the major concrete work completed, most of our crew and equipment has been demobilized, and only small finish work remains to be completed.
The final post-tension slab pour of the project is complete, bringing an end to our major operations.
The ceilings beneath the post-tension decks turned out very well.
The first section of the last level of concrete is being poured while work continues on the rest of the deck with rebar and tendon cable placement.
The south end of the final level of decking is nearly ready for concrete, and the north section is awaiting rebar and tendon cables.
The project has risen well above street level now, and decking for the final floor of post-tension slab is going up quickly.
Even with limited space the job site is always kept organized.
The crane assists with the removal of a large assembly of panels being used for the elevator shaft.
Today the south half of post-tension slab was poured with the weather cooperating nicely.
The concrete has set up enough for the finish to begin being applied.
Some of the lower floors have had their decking removed and look very nice.
With layout complete, fittings for electrical and plumbing are going in fast. The southeast section of deck has almost all it's reinforcement in.
Shoring for the ceiling above the ramp entrance. A massive beam has been stripped and cleaned.
An entire floor was finished since the last image, and already they are installing the tendon cables and rebar for the next floor of post-tension slab. The reinforcement for a large beam is almost ready for it's concrete surround.
The West section of deck is complete and awaiting layout.
Rebar and tendon cable are being tied in place while the electrical and plumbing fittings are positioned.
The north section of post-tension slab has been poured and awaits finishing.
The concrete boom has been put on the placement to help pour some walls and footings.
The south-east corner of the deck is cleared for rebar and cables.
Skydeck continues to be place for the third level floor, and the placement boom for pumping concrete to the next level of decking has arrived.
Cables have arrived and await placement on the post-tension decking.
The pump truck gets ready to lose it's boom to the job site.
And the boom is put into it's final position atop the placement high above the deck.
The final section of post-tension slab has been completed for the second floor and shoring and sky deck is already being erected for the third level.

The outer walls against the hillside continue to be shotcreted and troweled to a smooth finish.
Most of the tendons have now been placed and rebar is being laid into position.
More of the retaining wall has been shot
into place. Shoring and decking are being built up for the ramp leading from the first level of post-tension decking to the second.
A large section of the
post-tension slab was poured today, with work continuing on preparation for
the final section of the level one post-tension slab.
Power trowels put a burn
onto the surface of the deck for the smooth finish.
Decking for the final
section of the first level of post-tension slab is in place and now rebar
and tendons are being laid out.
